We've reached the middle...

Honestly, there's something kinda bittersweet about July. Today is the halfway point of 2011; we're on the downhill slide now. The April-May-June stretch, undeniably my favorite time of the year, seems to speed by all too quickly. July and August, strangely, seem to both drag and fly by. It must be something to do with the heat...it makes everything pass in that slow hazy way, like that wavy heat that emanates from hot asphalt.

The days are heating up here. Mornings and evenings become the times of day to savor. I like to get out in the morning, before the heat of the day sets in, see how the light filters through the still gorgeously-green trees, commune with the birds and bumblebees for awhile.

It helps to have new things to look forward to along with each new season. Mornings most of the year, I rely on the aid of something steamy and caffeinated to rouse me, but on these hot days, I've been satisfying my craving with cold-brewed iced coffee, cool and still strong.

Time ticks on...the most you can do is soak up what each day, each season, has to offer.
